Over the past two weeks, I’ve been hearing barn owls calling much more often. Over the weekend, my younger sibling’s family even caught a few little owls wandering around their yard.&#128578;

In our tradition, the appearance of barn owls and owls is considered an omen – a sign that something big may be about to happen.

Interestingly, the stock market has remained vibrant throughout November: liquidity is strong, money hasn’t really left, and investor sentiment is still upbeat. As usual, people are whispering to each other:

&gt; “Just like every year, a December wave is coming. The real question isn’t if there will be a wave, but which sectors will ride that wave the longest.”


Looking at it with an investor’s eyes (and being a bit less superstitious), I see three key themes:

&#127784;Energy – especially power, hydropower and renewables.
Electricity demand keeps rising, La Ni&#241;a–like conditions favour hydropower, and policy is pushing green energy. This sector offers relatively steady cash flows and long-term upside, suitable for a 6–36 month accumulation style that values stability and dividends.

↗️Public–investment plays – construction, infrastructure contractors and related materials.
They sit right at the center of record–high public–investment budgets, with thick order backlogs and strong profit–growth potential. But they also carry execution and policy–delay risks. Their waves tend to be big and volatile, fitting investors who accept short-term swings in exchange for higher upside.

&#127959;Steel:
Directly supported by construction, property and public infrastructure. In the right phase of the cycle, profits can surge and share prices can swing dramatically upward. But steel is a highly cyclical industry – it can rise fast and fall just as fast. It offers the widest “emotional spread” among these three themes.

So for me:

&gt; The owls are just an omen for fun.
The real signals for my money are data, capital flows, and my own true risk tolerance.
